(AFNS)  &#8212; \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The 19th Airlift Wing successfully completed the Green Flag Little Rock 23-07 exercise hosted by the 34th Combat Training Squadron at Alexandria International Airport, Louisiana, April 19-27.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The primary objective of GFLR was to support the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/home.army.mil\/polk\/\" target=\"_blank\">Joint Readiness Training Center<\/a><\/strong> and to provide training to the maximum number of airlift crews, mission planners and ground support elements in a simulated combat environment with an emphasis on joint force integration.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The 19th AW\u2019s six <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.af.mil\/About-Us\/Fact-Sheets\/Display\/Article\/1555054\/c-130-hercules\/\" target=\"_blank\">C-130J Super Hercules<\/a><\/strong> were accompanied by C-130Js from the Royal Canadian Air Force, U.S. Air Force <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.af.mil\/About-Us\/Fact-Sheets\/Display\/Article\/1529726\/c-17-globemaster-iii\/\" target=\"_blank\">C-17 Globemaster III\u2019s<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.af.mil\/About-Us\/Fact-Sheets\/Display\/Article\/104537\/kc-46a-pegasus\/\" target=\"_blank\">KC-46A Pegasus<\/a><\/strong> aircraft and their crews during the exercise.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis exercise was an excellent opportunity to work alongside our defense partner, Canada, to achieve our objectives,\u201d said Maj. Jesse Lind, 41st Airlift Squadron pilot and ground mission commander for GFLR. \u201cThey were integrated in the exercise from planning to execution, sharing tactics, techniques and procedures, and lessons learned to further prepare for tomorrow\u2019s fight.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>During GFLR, the 41st AS conducted 82 missions with 110 sorties while transporting <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.benning.army.mil\/infantry\/\" target=\"_blank\">U.S. Army infantry<\/a><\/strong>, U.S. Air Force <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.af.mil\/About-Us\/Fact-Sheets\/Display\/Article\/490683\/air-mobility-command-aeromedical-evacuation\/\" target=\"_blank\">aeromedical evacuation personnel<\/a><\/strong> and various military cargo. All were accomplished while performing in complicated threat and airspace scenarios.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The exercise\u2019s missions included personnel and cargo airdrops, austere landings, low-level tactical flying, and engine running operations to on-load and off-load cargo. These missions took place 24 hours a day.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis was the first GFLR involved in encapsulating all phases of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jcs.mil\/Portals\/36\/Documents\/Doctrine\/pubs\/jp3_18ch1.pdf?ver=A9WjEOdmKtKqabuKPDGu_g%3D%3D\" target=\"_blank\">Joint Forcible Entry<\/a><\/strong> to deploy an Army unit,\u201d said Lind. \u201cThis means that we not only airdropped 1,253 Army paratroopers on an objective area to seize initial objectives, but we continued to support their efforts to stabilize and secure their lodgment by landing further personnel and equipment around the clock for a week.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The event also tested <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.airforce.com\/careers\/combat-and-warfare\/survival-evasion-resistance-and-escape-sere\" target=\"_blank\">survival, resistance, evasion and escape<\/a><\/strong> skills with unannounced SERE events taking place throughout GFLR.\u00a0<br \/>\u00a0<\/p>\n<div class=\"ast-split ntext breakout  no-pad-top no-pad-bottom\">\n<div class=\"item\">\n<div class=\"body\">\n            \u200b<\/p>\n<div class=\"ast-blockquote\">\n<p>\n     The 19th Airlift Wing successfully completed the Green Flag Little Rock 23-07 exercise hosted by the 34th Combat Training Squadron at Alexandria International Airport, La., April 19 &#8211; 27, 2023. Katherine Espina)\n    <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u00a0<br \/>According to Lind, there was an expanded focus on ensuring crews were ready to face the risks associated with operating in a threat environment.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of our aircrews was chosen to simulate having to survive behind enemy lines,\u201d said Lind. \u201cWhat in previous exercises would have lasted several hours in the woods was expanded to several days surviving both in open waters and the wilderness.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In addition to exercising the joint capability of rapidly introducing forces into hostile environments to conduct operations, the exercise provided Airmen the opportunity to refine processes and procedures that could potentially enhance the effectiveness of real-world operations.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cExercises like this let leadership know our readiness posture for tomorrows fight,\u201d said Lind. \u201cThey also prepare us so we don\u2019t get caught off guard by limitations and gives our ground crews and more junior members experience with training events that they don\u2019t see every day.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Green Flag is not just an exercise, it is just one component of a larger joint training scenario conducted by the U.S. Army\u2019s Joint Readiness Training Center and their objective to validate a rotational training unit\u2019s ability to achieve their assigned mission in defense of national objectives.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGFLR is a validation event for the Army, but for us, it served as an opportunity to practice for <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amc.af.mil\/\" target=\"_blank\">Air Mobility Command<\/a><\/strong>\u2019s upcoming validation event\u2014Mobility Guardian 2023,\u201d said Lind.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Exercises of this magnitude are challenging, but provide abundant opportunities for training, learning and enhancing Joint Force capabilities. Vital training that is necessary to prepare for AMC\u2019s premiere bi-annual mobility exercise, which is fully integrated into a variety of exercises in the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pacom.mil\/\" target=\"_blank\">U.S. Indo-Pacific Command\u2019s<\/a><\/strong> theater, supporting eight joint exercises and building interoperability with seven nations, scheduled to execute in the Indo-Pacific theater this summer.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<div class=\"ast-split ntext breakout \">\n<div class=\"item\">\n<div class=\"body\">\n<section class=\"ast-brandedhr\">\n<div class=\"ast-brandedhr-line\">\n<p>                <title>U.S. Air Force Logo<\/title><\/p><\/div>\n<\/section><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LITTLE ROCK AIR FORCE BASE, Ark.
