To effectively maintain Fight Tonight readiness and provide the best possible defense of the of South Korea, servicemembers must function test their capabilities and identify ways to improve their procedures, which is exactly why they conduct routine training exercises.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span>\u201cEnduring PACE\u00a0is an exercise that practices communications resilience across multiple networks, ensuring the <\/span>commander\u2019s ability to operate in any environment,\u201d said Master Sgt. Adam Johnson, 7th Air Force contingency and exercise manager. \u201cThe 8th Communication Squadron, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.osan.af.mil\/About-Us\/Fact-Sheets\/Display\/Article\/740358\/51st-communications-squadron\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>51st CS<\/strong><\/a><span>,<strong> <\/strong><\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.osan.af.mil\/News\/Photos\/igphoto\/2000520420\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span><span>607th Air Communications Squadron<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/strong><span>\u00a0and <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.7af.pacaf.af.mil\/units\/607MMS\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span><span>607th Materiel Maintenance Squadron<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/strong><span><strong> <\/strong>detachments, execute exercise requirements in parallel while maintaining coordination with 7th AF Staff.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span>A key aspect of contingency communication is the efficiency in which equipment can be deployed and employed.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span>\u201cOur portion of this exercise is doing an in-house contingency test of all our systems,\u201d said Staff Sgt. Acacia Gilbert, 607th ACOMS radio frequency transmissions supervisor. \u201cWe are trying to see how quickly we can get our systems up and running and functional, according to our base plan.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span>Enduring PACE aimed at establishing operational-to-tactical communications linkages, which are essential for command and control during contingencies. Another goal was to conduct communication systems validation between all Air Force components from contingency locations throughout the South Korea.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span>\u201cCommunication resilience across the <\/span>peninsula is essential for South Korea and U.S. to partner effectively,\u201d Johnson said. \u201cWith the capability to communicate quickly and securely, our partnership can coordinate operations across different regions and respond to changes more effectively. Without reliable communication for command and control, our ability to project air power promptly would be degraded.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span>Every exercise has challenges and shortfalls and that is a good thing because it provides the opportunity for process improvement.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span>\u201cThe greatest success of this exercise is our <\/span>Airmen\u2019s ability to adapt and overcome challenges to achieve their objectives,\u201d Johnson said. \u201cLooking at all the entities involved across 7AF,<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usfk.mil\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span><span>U.S. Forces Korea<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/strong><span>,\u00a0<\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pacom.mil\/About-USINDOPACOM\/USPACOM-Area-of-Responsibility\/\" target=\"_blank\">U.S. Indo-Pacific Command<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/disa.mil\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span><span>Defense Information Systems Agency<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/strong><span>, the Airmen on the ground shoulder the preponderance of responsibilities. Their dedication not only provides <\/span>command and control during exercises but in everyday life in the Air Force.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span>Exercise Enduring PACE is conducted quarterly as part of the routine training cycle in South Korea.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span>\u201cOne goal of the exercise is to stoke innovation in the future of <\/span>command and control,\u201d Johnson said. \u201cThe 7th AF takes feedback from all units involved to help shape the future of communications.
