{"id":135671,"date":"2024-03-04T23:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-03-05T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/adn.monetizemail.com\/?p=135671"},"modified":"2024-03-06T21:31:36","modified_gmt":"2024-03-06T21:31:36","slug":"us-bangladesh-bolsters-tactical-airlift-interoperability-during-cope-south-24","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/adn.monetizemail.com\/?p=135671","title":{"rendered":"US, Bangladesh bolsters tactical airlift interoperability during Cope South 24"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><\/div>\n<p><strong class=\"article-detail-dateline\">JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii (AFNS) &#8212; \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nearly 80 U.S. Air Force service members and two <a href=\"https:\/\/www.af.mil\/About-Us\/Fact-Sheets\/Display\/Article\/1555054\/c-130-hercules\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>C-130J Super Hercules<\/strong><\/a> aircraft from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yokota.af.mil\/News\/Tag\/79027\/36th-airlift-squadron\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>36th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron<\/strong><\/a> integrated with Bangladesh for the bilateral tactical airlift exercise, Cope South 2024 at Bangladesh Air Force Bangabandhu Cantonment, Dhaka and Operating Location-Alpha, Sylhet, Bangladesh, Feb. 19 &#8211; 28.<\/p>\n<p>Airmen from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yokota.af.mil\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Yokota Air Base<\/strong><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kadena.af.mil\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Kadena AB<\/strong><\/a>, Japan; <a href=\"https:\/\/cnrh.cnic.navy.mil\/Installations\/JB-Pearl-Harbor-Hickam\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam<\/strong><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.andersen.af.mil\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Andersen Air Force Base<\/strong><\/a>, Guam, came together to participate in subject-matter expert exchanges and six tactical airlift sorties alongside BAF, which involved 77 personnel jumps and five cargo bundle airdrops.<\/p>\n<p>Cope South 2024 is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pacaf.af.mil\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Pacific Air Forces<\/strong><\/a>-sponsored bilateral tactical airlift exercise and provides an opportunity to strengthen the interoperability between U.S. and Bangladesh Air Forces, which directly impacts the ability to address shared security concerns.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCope South focuses on developing closer relationships with our BAF partners, so we are better equipped to operate together in the future,\u201d said Capt. Jason Bentley, 36th EAS mission commander.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are building skills that assist in humanitarian aid and disaster relief operations, which encompass a wide range of areas including crew resource management, aircraft formation, airdrop operations, aircraft maintenance and aeromedical evacuation,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the exercise, both U.S. and Bangladesh Air Force service members exchanged best practices, or SMEEs, in the operations, maintenance, medical and rigging career fields to strengthen relations and support the Bangladesh Armed Forces\u2019 long-term modernization effort to maintain regional stability.<\/p>\n<p>Relationships built with regional partners in the Indo-Pacific through exercises like CS24, civil-military operations and military exchanges are vital in HADR efforts and preserving stability in the region. CS24 has helped cultivate these common bonds, fostered goodwill and enhanced the mission readiness and interoperability between members of the Bangladesh and U.S. Air Forces.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe BAF loadmasters were kind and made our interactions and SME exchanges feel like we\u2019re simply talking to old friends and sharing lessons learned as aviators,\u201d said Master Sgt.
