Female <\/span>NATO<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/strong> service members from Turkish, U.S., Spanish and Polish contingents celebrate<\/span>d<\/span> International Women\u2019s Day at Incirlik Air Base, <\/span>Mar<\/span>ch<\/span> 8.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0

International women\u2019s day is an observance <\/span>celebrating<\/span> the social, economic, <\/span>cultural<\/span> and political achievements of women around the world. This year\u2019s theme is \u201cWomen who make great achievements.\u201d<\/span><\/span>\u00a0
\u00a0
Today, Incirlik AB celebrates<\/span> f<\/span>emale service members for the great achievement of defending NATO\u2019s southern flank.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0
\u00a0
Incirlik AB is a Turkish military installation hosted by the Turkish 10th Tanker Base Command. The 10 TBC hosts members from the U.S. <\/strong><\/span>39th Air Base Wing<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/strong>, Spanish Anti-Aircraft Artillery Command, and Polish Military Contingent in support of NATO.<\/span>\u00a0

With a diverse array of international partners and mission sets, Incirlik AB service women each play unique roles in the defense of NATO\u2019s southern flank.<\/span>\u00a0

Turkish Air Force 1st Lieutenant <\/span>Ozgecan<\/span> Ozcan Engin expertly flies F-16s in support of Turkish national interests from Incirlik AB.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0
\u00a0
Turkish Air Force air lawyer, Ceren Erden, <\/span>advises<\/span> leaders of the 10th Tanker Base, the host unit of Incirlik AB. She oversees the legal proceedings affiliated with 10 TB personnel.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0
\u00a0
U.S. Air Force Maj. Danielle Caudill is the Director of Operations for the 39th Force Support Squadron. She recently earned \u201cField Grade Officer of the Year.\u201d During her time at Incirlik AB, she <\/span>is responsible for<\/span> training, equipping, and conducting operations for the 215 39 FSS personnel in the caring and feeding 6,000 U.S., NATO, and Local National personnel.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Caudill is passionate about mentoring young officers, especially other female service members<\/span>,<\/span> and routinely volunteers for junior officer mentorship and career counseling.<\/span> Her family history gave her special appreciation for International Women\u2019s Day. <\/span><\/span>\u00a0
\u00a0
\u201cI am an international woman! My mother comes from Guyana, South America, and my father came from Ireland<\/span>,<\/span>\u201d <\/span>Caudill <\/span>said<\/span>.<\/span> \u201cThe democratic values protected by NATO are part of what inspired my parents to move to America for a chance at a better life. It is so inspiring to now be able to celebrate international women\u2019s day alongside other female NATO partners serving the military today.\u201d<\/span><\/span>\u00a0

U.S. Air Force Airman Jaclyn Schultz is a radar, <\/span>aircraft<\/span> and<\/span> weather specialist and was recognized as 39 ABW <\/span>v<\/span>olunteer of the <\/span>y<\/span>ear. She has served as the Airmen Committed to Excellence Council Vice President and has supported <\/span>numerous<\/span> base initiatives including fitness competitions, volunteer events and diversity and inclusion panels.<\/span> She <\/span>routinely interacts with NATO partners in her workplace and volunteer work.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cIt has been such an amazing experience working alongside and learning the culture of our NATO partners<\/span>,\u201d Schultz said. \u201c<\/span>Getting to experience and learn from our counterparts<\/span>\u2019<\/span> professionalism has given me an appreciation for the difference we can make together.\u201d<\/span><\/span>\u00a0

Polish First Lieutenant of the Navy Monika <\/span>Ryzowcz<\/span> is also a lawyer for the Polish Military Contingent at Incirlik AB. She <\/span>is responsible for<\/span> advising the Polish Military Contingent to<\/span> follow local and international law.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0

Polish Lance Corporal Iwona Pol is a noncommissioned officer in the Polish Military Contingent and <\/span>is responsible for<\/span> monitoring<\/span> the Eastern Mediterranean and the Black Sea in support of NATO Naval Command.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0
\u00a0
Spanish Lieutenant Maria Galan Garrido is serving her first assignment as a Tactical Control Officer at Incirlik AB. She is joined by Sgt. Sara Maria Cea Becerra, who <\/span>is responsible for<\/span> the maintenance and readiness of the Patriot Launcher<\/span>,<\/span> and 1st Sgt. Noelia Guevara Marquez<\/span>,<\/span> who is serving her second mission at Incirlik AB. They all serve the Spanish Patriot Battery unit at Incirlik AB. The Spanish Patriot Battery unit falls under the Spanish Anti-Aircraft Artillery Command with the mission to protect Adana from air-based threats.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0

Turkish, American, <\/span>Polish<\/span> and Spanish<\/span>\u2014<\/span>each <\/span>woman serves to advance democratic values and NATO interests in T\u00fcrkiye.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0
\u00a0
\u201cThanks to the great achievements and routine cooperation of women serving Incirlik AB, the teamwork of NATO in T\u00fcrkiye is stronger than ever.\u201d said <\/strong><\/span>Col. Kevin Lord<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/strong>, 39ABW commander<\/span>.<\/span> \u201cNot only do these women routinely demonstrate the great achiev<\/span>e<\/span>ment <\/span>of defending NATO interests in T\u00fcrkiye, <\/span>they<\/span> also <\/span>set an example for the next generation of female service<\/span> members.\u201d<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n
