PTSD Coach is for people who want to manage symptoms that can occur after a trauma such as relationship issues or feeling anxious or angry. COVID Coach focuses on self-care and improving emotional wellbeing even as we move out of the pandemic. Both apps have to be downloaded in English but can be changed to Spanish in just two steps. Once the app is installed, tap the menu icon on the home screen and select “Personalize” to change the language.

If you’re a Veteran and there’s not a Spanish-speaking provider available at your local VA, you can request to be treated by someone in the community through VA’s Community Care program. The National Center for PTSD website also has a Find a Provider page which allows you to search specifically for providers who are bilingual.

If you can’t find a mental health provider who speaks Spanish and you are at least somewhat comfortable speaking English, you can still benefit from PTSD treatment in English. A good therapist can help you even if they are not an expert in your culture or language. You could talk to the therapist about using a translation service. With or without a translation service, the therapist will work with you to find common ground, as well as come up with new words to describe what you are trying to communicate or ask questions to make sure you understand each other.

If something isn’t working for you, let the therapist know. With good communication, treatment can help you recover from PTSD.

All Links/Todos los Enlaces:

www.ptsd.va.gov

www.ptsd.va.gov/spanish/index.asp

www.ptsd.va.gov/gethelp/find_therapist.asp

www.ptsd.va.gov/spanish/gethelp/find_therapist_sp.asp

PTSD Coach Mobile app/Aplicación Móvil

www.ptsd.va.gov/appvid/mobile/ptsdcoach_app.asp

www.ptsd.va.gov/spanish/resources/ptsdcoach_app_SP.asp

https://youtu.be/cXS98YRpO1s

COVID Coach Mobile app/Aplicación Móvil

www.ptsd.va.gov/appvid/mobile/COVID_coach_app.asp

www.ptsd.va.gov/spanish/resources/covid_coach_app_sp.asp

https://youtu.be/7-hjUAm8_Sc

PTSD Bytes episodes /Más episodios de PTSD Bytes

If you are a Veteran who is experiencing a crisis or supporting a loved one who is, dial 988 then press 1 for immediate assistance, or chat online at VeteransCrisisLine.net/chat.

In this bilingual episode of the PTSD Bytes podcast, host Dr. Colleen Becket-Davenport discusses Spanish-language resources for people with PTSD and their loved ones.
