Event goers could enjoy German and American cuisine, a jumping castle, music and different machinery at display.<\/p>\n<p>The MAV is a civilian repair facility for military equipment located at Rose Barracks, Germany, which started out as a military unit in 1948.<\/p>\n<p>During the last decades, the company went through some major changes. Until 2007, the MAV was under military command of the 7th Army Training Command. It is now under civilian management of the Theater Logistics Support Center \u2013 Europe. The majority of the 148 employees are local nationals.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are 99.9% German civilian employees and one Department of the Army Civilian,&#8221; said Hans J\u00fcrgen Pirner, head of service and director of MAV.<\/p>\n<div class=\"editor-image single\">\n<figure class=\"photo cur-photo\">\n          <span class=\"centered-image\"><br \/>\n            <span class=\"img-container\"><br \/>\n              <a class=\"rich-text-img-link\" href=\"https:\/\/api.army.mil\/e2\/c\/images\/2023\/06\/15\/15157e50\/original.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><br \/>\n                <img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Maintenance Activity Vilseck looks to future of workforce while celebrating 75th\" src=\"https:\/\/adn.monetizemail.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/size0-full-217.jpg\" \/><br \/>\n              <\/a><br \/>\n                          <\/span><br \/>\n          <\/span><figcaption>\n                        <span class=\"image-caption\"><br \/>\n              <span class=\"caption-text\"><br \/>\n                Maintenance Activity Vilseck crew 2023.<br \/>\n                <span class=\"caption-author\"> (Photo Credit: Natalie Simmel)<\/span><br \/>\n              <\/span><br \/>\n              <a href=\"https:\/\/api.army.mil\/e2\/c\/images\/2023\/06\/15\/15157e50\/original.jpg\" title=\"View original\" target=\"_blank\">VIEW ORIGINAL<\/a><br \/>\n            <\/span><br \/>\n          <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Starting to work for MAV in 1983, Pirner knows about the career opportunities available at MAV. \u201cI started here as an automotive mechatronics technician, and now I am the director of MAV,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are always striving to create training opportunities for our employees,\u201d said Pirner. \u201cAbout 65% of former trainees are already in management positions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The support and encouragement do not end after the successful completion of an apprenticeship. Junior employees are encouraged to develop the skills needed for management positions during their time at MAV. An important part of working at MAV is the communication with customers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTherefore, we encourage all of our employees to study English,\u201d said Pirner. \u201cAnd all technical instructions and reference books are available exclusively in English as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>MAV has been offering apprenticeships in technical and administrative positions since 1998. These include occupations of automotive mechatronics technician, industrial mechanic and office administrator.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wanted to do an apprenticeship in the business field and was eager to incorporate my interest in English in my career path,\u201d said Daniel R\u00fchr, first year office administrator trainee. \u201cAnd I like working here because of the positive work environment.
