Patient Experience Week provides a focused time for VA to celebrate accomplishments, re-energize efforts, educate employees on patient experience measures and metrics, and honor the people who serve Veterans, their families, caregivers and survivors.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/adn.monetizemail.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Happy-Twosome_r1-2.jpg\"><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Creating an exceptional experience for Veterans<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Patient Experience Week (April 29 to May 5) is a great way to enhance patient and staff relations, increase morale and improve communication.<\/p>\n<p>\u200b\u200b\u200bPatient Experience can mean different things to each Veteran and their family. The big picture is that care and service are delivered in an exceptional and consistent way. At VA, we define patient experience as \u201cthe sum of all interactions shaped by the organization\u2019s culture that influence Veterans\u2019 perceptions along their health care journey.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Patient experience is the organizational alignment of people, processes and culture around the common goal of creating a consistent, exceptional experience for Veterans, their families, caregivers and survivors.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Employees deliver timely and high-quality patient experience<\/h2>\n<p>This year\u2019s theme, \u201cOwn Your Moment,\u201d emphasizes the individual responsibility of VA employees to build Veteran trust during every interaction. VA employees own their moment with Veterans by taking the initiative to deliver timely and high-quality patient experience <a href=\"https:\/\/news.va.gov\/121748\/vas-journey-to-improving-patient-experience\/\">the VA WAY<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>VA\u2019s Veterans Experience Office has taken best practices from across VA and private sector health care to enhance the Veteran patient experience.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.va.gov\/initiatives\/veteran-trust-in-va\/\">79.1% of Veterans surveyed<\/a> said they trust VA overall with 91.5% of Veterans saying they trust VA outpatient health care to take care of them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPatient experience isn\u2019t just a program. It\u2019s a way of work life. It\u2019s understanding the moments that matter most to our patients and also to our employees,\u201d said Jennifer Purdy, executive director, Veterans Experience Office Customer Experience Tools and Implementation directorate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen we understand what matters, it helps us focus on which areas to improve and to be able to explain the why behind the needed improvement.
