DEFENDER 24 is linked to NATO\u2019s Steadfast Defender exercise, and DoD\u2019s Large Scale Global Exercise, taking place from 28 March to 31 May.<\/p>\n<p>DEFENDER 24 is the largest U.S. Army exercise in Europe and includes more than 17,000 U.S. and 23,000 multinational service members from more than 20 Allied and partner nations, including Croatia, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Georgia, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Norway, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.<br \/>\n                <span class=\"caption-author\"> (Photo Credit: Cameron Porter)<\/span>\n              <\/p>\n<p><\/span><br \/>\n              <a href=\"https:\/\/api.army.mil\/e2\/c\/images\/2024\/05\/07\/7e09625b\/original.jpg\" title=\"View original\" target=\"_blank\">VIEW ORIGINAL<\/a><br \/>\n            <\/span><br \/>\n          <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>LIBAVA, Czechia \u2013 Accountability was key during Army Prepositioned Stocks-2 operations at the Libava Training Area in Czechia recently when the 405th Army Field Support Brigade issued an entire APS-2 cavalry regiment equipment set to a gaining tactical unit from the U.S. for DEFENDER 24.<\/p>\n<p>Walking the Equipment Configuration and Hand-Off Area and helping to ensure accountability of over 400 major end items \u2013 everything from M2 Bradley Fighting Vehicles and M113 Armored Personnel Carriers to fuelers, wreckers and more \u2013 was Sgt. 1st Class Sowande Tianyvu.<\/p>\n<p>Tianyvu is the primary hand receipt holder and accountable officer at Army Field Support Battalion-Africa in Livorno, Italy. During DEFENDER 24, where AFSBn-Africa was tasked with mission command of the ECHA site in Libava, Tianyvu\u2019s skills as an accountable officer were extremely important.<\/p>\n<p>The 42-year-old husband and father of three has been assigned to AFSBn-Africa since August of last year. Since this is his first DEFENDER, he said he\u2019s shadowing one of the accountable officers from the Coleman APS-2 worksite in Mannheim, Germany, where the cavalry regiment equipment set is normally stored and maintained. It\u2019s an amazing place, and the people here are awesome and very friendly. I\u2019m super excited,\u201d said Tianyvu, who calls Atlanta, Georgia, his home. \u201cIt\u2019s awesome to be able to travel to different places around the world and experience different cultures because that\u2019s not something people are typically able to do when living in the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Learning about a new country and shadowing a more experienced DEFENDER accountable officer are not the only things he\u2019s taking away from DEFENDER 24, he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven though I\u2019m supply, and I\u2019ve been in different units \u2013 some of this APS-2 equipment [from the Coleman worksite] I\u2019m not familiar with \u2013 some of these Bradleys and different things.
