The ceremony hadn\u2019t been performed for four years. Then, attendees enjoyed browsing around different vendor booths, eating food and stellar entertainment.<\/p>\n<p>Rock band Bowling for Soup was the opening act and lead singer Jaret Reddick said, on the Great Big Podcast, that the band has performed for military members for years all around the world and it\u2019s been a rewarding experience.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeing able to put smiles on (service members) faces and for the officers to come up and say, \u2018Man, it is so great to see everybody smiling and having a good time,\u2019 that\u2019s what\u2019s been great,\u201d he said. \u201cFirst and foremost, it\u2019s amazing to (travel and perform) for the men and women who keep us all safe.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"editor-image photo-slideshow\">\n<figure class=\"photo cur-photo\">\n          <span class=\"centered-image\"><br \/>\n            <span class=\"img-container\"><br \/>\n              <a class=\"rich-text-img-link\" href=\"https:\/\/api.army.mil\/e2\/c\/images\/2023\/06\/29\/850970e7\/original.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><br \/>\n                <img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Bowling for Soup lead singer Jaret Reddick listens to the crowd cheer during the band&#039;s performance at Freedom Fest June 23, 2023, at Fort Cavazos. Gen. Sean C. Bernabe, III Armored Corps and Fort Cavazos commanding general, asked three things of the attendees.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne, take a little bit of time between now and the Fourth of July to think about our forefathers and the courage and bravery it took for them to stand up and say, \u2018We\u2019re going to declare our independence from the British Empire and we\u2019re going to build a new nation,\u2019\u201d he said. \u201cThat took guts and courage\u2026 Two, during this upcoming, four-day, holiday weekend please spend some time with those you love.
