The battle occurred between American Naval Forces and the British Fleet on September 10, 1813.<\/p>\n<p>Cleveland Navy Week will bring between 50 and 75 Sailors from across the nation to volunteer throughout the community and discuss why the Navy matters to Cleveland.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Cleveland Navy Week will feature in-person demonstrations, performances, and engagements throughout the week that will include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Senior Navy Leaders \u2013 Flag officer and senior civilian Navy leaders with ties to Cleveland and the surrounding area.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Namesake Sailors \u2013 Sailors serving on USS Cleveland (LCS 31), a freedom-class littoral combat ship and USS Ohio (SSGN 726), an Ohio-class guided-missile submarine.<\/li>\n<li>U.S. Fleet Forces Band &#8211; Performances and masterclasses with Navy Musicians.<\/li>\n<li>Naval History and Heritage Command \u2013 Educational presentations and lesson plans about the deep ties between Ohio and the Navy.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0USS Constitution \u2013 Demonstrations about the oldest commissioned ship in the Navy.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Navy Expeditionary Combat Command \u2013 Educational STEM presentations and fitness demonstrations by technicians, medics, and divers.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0U.S. Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command \u2013 Educational presentation on the importance of atmospheric and oceanographic science and the overall value of STEM education to the Navy.<\/li>\n<li>Office of Small Business Programs \u2013 Workshops on doing business with the Department of the Navy<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Navy Talent Acquisition Group \u2013 Educational presentations, community service projects and static displays.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Navy Weeks are the service\u2019s signature outreach program, designed to allow the citizens of Cleveland to learn about the Navy, its people, and its importance to national security and prosperity. The Navy Office of Community Outreach (NAVCO) coordinates Navy Weeks.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are excited to bring Navy Week to Cleveland,&#8221; said NAVCO&#8217;s director, Cmdr. Anthony Falvo. \u201cSeapower and America\u2019s Navy are more important now than ever before. The U.S. Navy remains our nation\u2019s most powerful instrument of military influence and Navy Weeks allow us to showcase how the Navy serves America at sea, in the air, and ashore.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Since 2005, the Navy Week program has served as the Navy\u2019s flagship outreach effort to regions without a significant Navy presence, with over 250 Navy Weeks held in more than 80 different U.S. markets.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe coordinate about 75 outreach events during a Navy Week through corporate, civic, government, education, media, veterans, and community service engagements,\u201d said NAVCO Navy Week program manager Lt. Cmdr.
