<\/a> Scott and Carter Culletto were both assigned to the US Army Garrison, Italy Camp Darby Post Office while attending the six-week Europe-wide program from June 21 through July 29. <\/span> Scott and Carter Culletto were both assigned to the US Army Garrison, Italy Camp Darby Post Office while attending the six-week Europe-wide program from June 21 through July 29.<\/p>\n \u201cScott Culletto showed excellent leadership skills,\u201d said Marjorie Thomas, Supervisor Postal Operations Specialist. \u201cCarter Culletto, on the other hand, is superb with customers, a true customer service savant.”<\/p>\n The Summer Hire Program is designed to provide eligible overseas family member youths an opportunity to gain meaningful work experience.<\/p>\n \u201cI was motivated to join the Summer Hire Program because it was a way to get work experience,\u201d said Carter.<\/p>\n Taking part in the program, youth also gain some independence and budget experience by earning their paycheck.<\/p>\n \u201cI wanted to join the Summer Hire Program so I could make money,\u201d said Scott.<\/p>\n The program requires a full 40-hour workweek in offices completing a variety of tasks assigned by their supervisor.<\/p>\n \u201cI think it really helped me develop my leadership skills,\u201d said Scott.<\/p>\n Their day at the post office included a variety of duties, from loading and offloading mail trucks, using postal technology and computers to process mail, to customer service.<\/p>\n \u201cI learned a lot about hard work and collaboration as well as more about the inner workings of a post office,\u201d said Carter.<\/p>\n Working is a full range experience for youths learning not only about daily duties and hard work, but also about collaboration, teamwork, work ethic, and sense of responsibility.<\/p>\n \u201cThey both worked fantastically together as a team, which was especially noteworthy as the two are brothers,\u201d said Thomas. \u00a0“This is really a great team, so I hope they appreciate that, going forward in<\/p>\n life.”<\/p>\n Both boys when asked if they were willing to apply again next year responded with enthusiasm that they would absolutely like to repeat the experience next year.<\/p>\n Every year in Spring, youths aged 14-22 can apply through USAjobs.gov by selecting the preferred location and specifying their preference for either labor or clerical jobs.<\/p>\n \u201cI would like to tell others to work hard and face challenges head on,\u201d said Carter. \u201cSummer hire is a great work experience,\u201d said Scott.<\/p>\n
