(Courtesy photo)<br \/>\n                <span class=\"caption-author\"> (Photo Credit: Courtesy)<\/span><br \/>\n              <\/span><br \/>\n              <a href=\"https:\/\/api.army.mil\/e2\/c\/images\/2024\/08\/20\/3373ab67\/original.jpg\" title=\"View original\" target=\"_blank\">VIEW ORIGINAL<\/a><br \/>\n            <\/span><br \/>\n          <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>WILLEBROEK, Belgium \u2013 Allied Forces North Battalion visited the National Memorial of Fort Breendonk on May 6 during this year\u2019s 2024 Days of Remembrance and Holocaust Remembrance Day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn the Holocaust Remembrance Day, AFNorth Soldiers and civilian employees, along with U.S. Army NATO, visited Fort Breendonk in Belgium to solemnly pay our respects to the millions who lost their lives and the survivors who endured unimaginable suffering,\u201d said Capt. Erica Loroff, commander of the AFNorth headquarters company.<\/p>\n<p>The National Memorial of Fort Breendonk is a former Belgian Army fortification constructed from 1906 to 1913 as part of the defense of Antwerp.<\/p>\n<p>The fortress was used by Belgium during both World War I and World War II.
