[Editor\u2019s Note: In this series, we are shining a light on our workforce in and around the Benelux. This Spotlight <\/em>is on SSA Nicolas Delmoiti\u00e9, a Belgian native who recently returned to the area as a member of the U.S. Army.]<\/p>\n

SHAPE, Belgium \u2013 Supervisory Special Agent Nicolas Delmoiti\u00e9 and his family recently arrived at SHAPE as part of his new assignment leading the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division\u2019s Benelux Resident Unit. However, for the career Army Soldier, this move was far from his first time living in Belgium.<\/p>\n

Delmoiti\u00e9 was initially born in Kraainem, outside of Brussels, to a Belgian father and German mother. He spent most of his childhood in Belgium and Switzerland, before finally moving to Wasilla, Alaska, in the U.S. as a teenager.<\/p>\n

A few years after graduating from an American high school, Delmoiti\u00e9 decided to enlist in the Army in 2004. He initially joined as a mechanic, however switched to Army CID after seeing a recruiting poster in his installation post office.<\/p>\n

He quickly fell in love with his new role as an Army CID agent. While the job can be difficult, Delmoiti\u00e9 said he takes great pride in being able to help people, particularly children and others who don\u2019t usually have a voice.<\/p>\n

Now, 19 years after he initially joined the Army and just in time for his 40th birthday, he\u2019s extremely excited to be able to continue his role back in his birth country and surrounded by his extended family.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love partnerships, talking to people\u2026especially different nations,\u201d said Delmoiti\u00e9, \u201c[Here] we\u2019re helping the DoD and we\u2019re helping Belgians\u2026it\u2019s a really beautiful thing. I love it.\u201d<\/p>\n

USAG Benelux Spotlight: Nicolas Delmoiti\u00e9<\/h5>\n

SHAPE, Belgique – L’agent sp\u00e9cial superviseur Nicolas Delmoiti\u00e9 et sa famille sont r\u00e9cemment arriv\u00e9s au SHAPE dans le cadre de sa nouvelle affectation \u00e0 la t\u00eate de l’unit\u00e9 r\u00e9sidente du Benelux de la division des enqu\u00eates criminelles du d\u00e9partement de l’arm\u00e9e. Cependant, pour ce soldat de carri\u00e8re \u00e0 l’arm\u00e9e, ce d\u00e9m\u00e9nagement \u00e9tait loin d’\u00eatre sa premi\u00e8re exp\u00e9rience en Belgique.<\/p>\n

Delmoiti\u00e9 est n\u00e9 \u00e0 Kraainem, dans la banlieue de Bruxelles, d’un p\u00e8re belge et d’une m\u00e8re allemande. Il a pass\u00e9 la plus grande partie de son enfance en Belgique et en Suisse, avant de s’installer \u00e0 Wasilla, en Alaska, aux \u00c9tats-Unis, \u00e0 l’adolescence.<\/p>\n

Quelques ann\u00e9es apr\u00e8s avoir obtenu son dipl\u00f4me dans un lyc\u00e9e am\u00e9ricain, Delmoiti\u00e9 a d\u00e9cid\u00e9 de s’engager dans l’arm\u00e9e en 2004. Il s’est d’abord engag\u00e9 comme m\u00e9canicien, mais a opt\u00e9 pour la division des enqu\u00eates criminelles du d\u00e9partement de l’arm\u00e9e (CID) apr\u00e8s avoir vu une affiche de recrutement dans le bureau de poste de son installation militaire.<\/p>\n

Il est rapidement tomb\u00e9 amoureux de son nouveau r\u00f4le en tant qu’agent du CID de l’arm\u00e9e. Bien que le travail puisse \u00eatre difficile, Delmoiti\u00e9 dit qu’il est tr\u00e8s fier de pouvoir aider les gens, en particulier les enfants et d’autres personnes qui n’ont g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement pas la possibilit\u00e9 de s’exprimer.<\/p>\n

Aujourd’hui, 19 ans apr\u00e8s s’\u00eatre engag\u00e9 dans l’arm\u00e9e et juste \u00e0 temps pour son 40e anniversaire, il est extr\u00eamement heureux de pouvoir poursuivre son r\u00f4le dans son pays d’origine, entour\u00e9 de sa famille.<\/p>\n

“J’aime les partenariats, parler aux gens… en particulier aux diff\u00e9rentes nations”, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 M. Delmoiti\u00e9. “Ici, nous aidons le minist\u00e8re de la d\u00e9fense et nous aidons les Belges… c’est vraiment une belle chose. C’est vraiment une belle chose. J’adore \u00e7a.”<\/p>\n
