Kandice Pritchard-Harmon, BOSS president.<\/p>\n<p>During the event, attendees were encouraged to visit sponsor tents where they could learn about some of the off- and on-post resources available to them. There were plenty of team-building activities, such as badminton, volleyball, table tennis and relay races. The fest also had a gaming truck, food trucks\u00a0and door-prize giveaways, which included TVs and kitchen appliances.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c(The activities) are things for Soldiers to be able to get out and connect with everyone,\u201d Pritchard-Harmon said. \u201cThey get to come, see old friends and make new friends.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Spc. Lacy Welbes and Sgt. Nilofer Schultz, 15th Military Intelligence Battalion, 504th Military Intelligence Brigade, participated in a game of badminton. Schultz echoed Pritchard-Harmon\u2019s sentiments, saying Single Soldier Fest provides Soldiers with a way to meet their peers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s the single Soldiers that need the most help (meeting others),\u201d she said. \u201cThis gives them the ability for all the single Soldiers to come together and meet each other.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Welbes agreed, adding it\u2019s helpful for new Soldiers to also educate themselves on resources.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I first got here, I was lost in the sauce,\u201d she said. \u201cBut these kinds of events educate you. So, I think they\u2019re really great, educational and helpful for single Soldiers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve met tons of really cool people already,\u201d she continued. \u201cI got so much good information from the last NCO (noncommissioned officer) that was (at the badminton station) an hour-and-a-half ago. I never would have met him or met anyone else outside my unit had I not come here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pritchard-Harmon\u2019s time as BOSS president is coming to an end, but she said Single Soldier Fest is a reminder the mission of the BOSS program will endure.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSoldiers come and go, leadership comes and goes, but the mission remains the same, and the BOSS program will always be there for those who should need it,\u201d Pritchard-Harmon said. \u201cThis is just one way of us celebrating and highlighting that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For more information on the Fort Cavazos BOSS program, call 254-287-6116, or visit <em>cavazos.armymwr.com\/programs\/boss<\/em> or <em>www.facebook.com\/FortCavazosBOSSProgram<\/em>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>1 \/ 3 Show Caption + Hide Caption \u2013 Spc.
