WIESBADEN, Germany – Wiesbaden Family and MWR managers dedicated Oct. 12 to sharing challenges, success stories and professional development in an effort to improve services and processes for service members and their families.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe biggest thing you\u2019ll come away with today is the networking,\u201d said Directorate of Family and MWR Program Manager Gregory Holzinger kicking off the day-long FY24 First Quarter MWR Managers Working Group.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve finished a very successful fiscal year,\u201d Holzinger said, describing the high standards that guide all aspects of Family and MWR \u2013 from Army Community Service to Child and Youth Services. \u201cThe bottom line is that we met our financial obligations and we met our customer service obligations.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBe proud of the work that you\u2019re doing to take care of Soldiers and their families,\u201d Holzinger advised his staff. \u201cYou are serving in a focal point of everything that is going on in the world. We (the Wiesbaden military community) are growing in size. You are part of history.\u201d<\/p>\n

The DFMWR Director said FY24 will bring challenges, but as long as managers and staff pull together to do the best they can, outstanding quality of life can be assured. \u201cIt\u2019s all about teamwork; it\u2019s not about individuals,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019ve got to believe in yourself, and you\u2019ve got to believe in the mission,\u201d said guest speaker U.S. Army Garrison Wiesbaden Command Sgt. Maj. Yves Pamphil.<\/p>\n

“As a manager you should have an innovative mindset all the time,” Pamphil said, adding that “thinking outside the box” is critical to leading successful teams. \u201cYou\u2019ve got to know your team to lead them \u2013 take the time to get to know them and assess them.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you give them the tools to be successful, we will be successful,\u201d he said. \u201cYou have to not only lead your team, but keep them safe. \u2026 People will do so much if they know you believe in them.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re not competing against other when we\u2019re leading,\u201d Pamphil said, explaining the importance of working together, relying on the expertise of members of the team, looking for innovative ways to do things better and sharing successful ideas.<\/p>\n

\u201cTake care of yourself, take care of your family and take care of your team,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n

MWR NAF Services Chief Casey Malloy said the the Quarterly Managers Working Group serves as a dedicated platform for training, leader development and as a means to tackle organizational challenges.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese forums are tailor-made for program managers to facilitate the exchange of ideas, offer constructive suggestions for enhancing services and collectively work toward improving aspects of their positions or responsibilities,\u201d Malloy said. \u201cThe working group\u2019s collective goal is to support each other in our pursuit of organizational success.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
