(AFNS) &#8212; \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.af.mil\/About-Us\/Biographies\/Display\/Article\/2314276\/joanne-s-bass\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Chief Master Sgt. of the Air Force JoAnne S. Bass<\/strong><\/a> visited <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tinker.af.mil\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Tinker Air Force Base<\/strong><\/a>, Oct. 11-13, for the first time, taking the opportunity to learn more about the mission and Airmen on base.<\/p>\n<p>Bass is the highest enlisted Airman in the U.S. Air Force and is the 19th chief master sergeant appointed to the position. Bass represents the highest enlisted level of leadership, and as such, provides direction for the enlisted force and represents their interests, as appropriate, to the American public and to those in all levels of government.<\/p>\n<p><!--media-inline--><\/p>\n<p>Air Force First Sergeant Special Duty Manager Chief Master Sgt. John Alsvig also traveled to Tinker AFB alongside Bass. Alsvig\u2019s responsibilities include setting overall policy and guidance for the management of the first sergeant special duty. In addition, he advises the CMSAF on all matters relating to the health, morale, welfare and discipline of the force.<\/p>\n<p>During their visit, Bass and Alsvig met with key leaders from Tinker AFB and the community to address challenges Airmen and their families face. Bass was quick to point out the level of diversity among employees.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat you all do here at Team Tinker really underpins the warfighter concept,\u201d Bass said. \u201cOur warfighters, regardless of service, cannot do what they do without the work done by every single servicemember here at Tinker, especially the 90 percent of civilians who are making it happen every day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In addition to visiting the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tinker.af.mil\/Units\/72nd-Air-Base-Wing\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>72nd Air Base Wing<\/strong><\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.552acw.acc.af.mil\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>552nd Air Control Wing<\/strong><\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tinker.af.mil\/About-Tinker\/Fact-Sheets\/Display\/Article\/384764\/oklahoma-city-air-logistics-complex\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Air Logistics Complex<\/strong><\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.507arw.afrc.af.mil\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>507th Air Refueling Wing<\/strong><\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.137sow.ang.af.mil\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>137th Special Operations Wing<\/strong><\/a>, and holding an all call with enlisted members of the base, Bass visited the students at Edmond North High School\u2019s Air Force <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.defense.gov\/Contact\/Help-Center\/Article\/Article\/2742332\/junior-reserve-officers-training-corps\/\" target=\"_blank\">Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Bass held a Q and A session for students to ask a wide variety of questions about the Air Force and her position specifically.<\/p>\n<p>Edmond North High School senior David Boley was among the first students to ask a question, asking how it\u2019s possible to maintain time management with a busy lifestyle.<\/p>\n<p>    <!--image-->\n    <\/p>\n<p><!--media-inline--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou have to sleep well, you have to eat well,\u201d Bass said. \u201cI try my best to wake up in the morning and go do my physical training early in the morning so that I can feel physically ready. I prep myself before I go into work mentally by listening to podcasts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was really cool that she came out here and that I got a chance to not only talk to her but actually shake her hand,\u201d Boley said. \u201cShe\u2019s a great example for what I am trying to become because I want to become a good leader; I want to be a PJ [Air Force pararescueman]. The example she sets of living a highly disciplined life is something that I am striving for too.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During the Total Force all-call, Bass heard from Airmen, highlighted the top priorities of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.af.mil\/About-Us\/Air-Force-Senior-Leaders\/\" target=\"_blank\">senior leaders<\/a><\/strong> in the Air Force, as well as what Airmen can expect in the coming years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur headspace is, \u2018Where does our Air Force need to be and how can we optimize for great power competition?\u2019\u201d Bass said. \u201cNow we have these other war fighting domains that we have to focus on called space, cyber and information.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!--media-inline--><\/p>\n<p>Bass is proud of the Air Force heritage, history and everyone that got the Air Force to this point but is excited for what\u2019s to come.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs we continue to build the Air Force our nation needs, it\u2019s going to be Airmen like those at Team Tinker who will continue to accelerate change into the future,\u201d Bass said.<\/p>\n<p>Before departing Tinker AFB, Bass and Alsvig, sat down with Tinker AFB Public Affairs to record an edition of the \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tinker.af.mil\/News\/Tinker-Talks-Podcast\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Tinker Talks<\/strong><\/a>\u2019 podcast.\n<\/p>\n<div class=\"ast-split ntext breakout \">\n<div class=\"item\">\n<div class=\"body\">\n<section class=\"ast-brandedhr\">\n<div class=\"ast-brandedhr-line\">\n<p>                <title>U.S. Air Force Logo<\/title><\/p><\/div>\n<\/section><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla.
