Unable to clasp her bra with one hand, OAM\u2019s engineering team created a novel D-ring closure that simplifies the clasp to a single motion, giving her a significant level of independence.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Addressing unique Veteran needs<\/h2>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/adn.monetizemail.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Ms.-Harris_r1-2.jpg\"><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Army Veteran Edna May Harris<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>OAM\u2019s commitment to supporting women Veterans is evident in their tailored solutions. Melissa Oliver, occupational therapist and Assistive Technology Program director at Richmond, explaied, \u201cTransforming a simple act into a manageable one for Edna Harris significantly enhanced her daily comfort and dignity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>OAM\u2019s mission to \u201cmake what we cannot buy\u201d drives their innovation. Their extensive range of technologies, including industrial sewing machines and vacuum-forming technology, allows them to create specialized items for individual Veterans\u2019 needs.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Adapting to the increase in female Veterans<\/h2>\n<p>The increase in female Veterans enrolling in VA services has prompted a corresponding evolution in OAM\u2019s operations. As more women seek Veteran health services, the demand for adaptations addressing their specific health and rehabilitation needs has risen.<\/p>\n<p>This shift underscores the importance of OAM\u2019s flexible manufacturing capabilities, which allow for the rapid development of solutions, like the one-handed bra closure that significantly impact Veterans\u2019 lives.<\/p>\n<p>Harris expressed her gratitude. \u201cIt makes a big difference because you can do it yourself.
