WASHINGTON D.C. \u2014 1st Infantry Division leaders and senior noncommissioned officers attended and participated in the Association of the United States Army annual meeting and exposition in Washington, D.C., Oct. 9-11, 2023.<\/p>\n

\u201cBe All You Can Be\u201d was the theme of this year\u2019s meeting, highlighting how the Army is innovating and adapting to operate in an evolving and complex world. From recruiting, retention, and talent management to training and equipping the force for a multidomain fight, the Army is focused on transforming for 2030 and beyond.<\/p>\n

The meeting presented a dynamic conference which delivered the Army\u2019s key messages, highlighted the capabilities of Army organizations, and presented a wide range of industry products and services.<\/p>\n

Big Red One NCOs took the opportunity to listen and take notes at the Sergeant Major of the Army\u2019s professional development forum, where topics such as leadership, training and modernization were discussed.<\/p>\n

U.S. Army Command Sgt. Maj. TJ Holland, the 24th command sergeant major of U.S. Army Forces Command, expressed the importance of the NCO Corps within the Army, which the Big Red One Soldiers paid close attention to.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur NCO Corps is the backbone,\u201d Holland said. \u201cIt’s in our NCO creed. We have to live it. Our commanders trust us. That trust is earned every day, so remember that. Every day is a lecture.\u201d<\/p>\n

Col. Bryan M. Harris, the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Inf. Div. commander, participated in the Warrior\u2019s Corner event, where he gave insight on what the \u201cDagger\u201d Brigade did in Europe during their nine-month rotation.<\/p>\n

The brigade trained and operated in conjunction with NATO allies and partners in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve. With a warfighting focus area, Harris spoke about how they partook in the international efforts to train military allies.<\/p>\n

The exposition presented a variety of displays showcasing new advanced technology, including aerial and ground military vehicles, weapons and communication systems.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was given the opportunity to attend briefings held by some of the Army\u2019s most senior leaders, as well as explore the world of military advancement that so many of the vendors were displaying,\u201d said Sgt. 1st Class Joshua Schuller, an M1 armor crewman assigned to Alpha Company, 2nd Battalion 70th Armor Regiment, 2nd ABCT, 1st Inf. Div.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo be chosen as one of the few that got to go and experience this is an amazing feeling,\u201d Schuller said. \u201cKnowing the level of knowledge and experience that we were able to gain by attending briefings by the SMA, is just a fantastic feeling. Very humbling.\u201d<\/p>\n
