(AFNS) &#8212; \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.travis.af.mil\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span><span>Travis <\/span><span>Air Force Base<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/strong><span> Airmen validated Rapid Global Mobility and <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.doctrine.af.mil\/Portals\/61\/documents\/AFDN_1-21\/AFDN%201-21%20ACE.pdf\" target=\"_blank\"><span><span>Agile Combat Employment<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/strong><span> capabilities during Exercise Golden Gateway Oct. 15<\/span> \u2013 19.\u00a0<br \/>\u00a0<br \/><span><\/p>\n<p>    <!--image--><br \/>\n    <\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--media-inline--><\/p>\n<p><span>The <\/span>readiness exercise hosted by Travis AFB demonstrated total force integration from partner units including the 349th Air Mobility\u202fWing. The exercise showcased the installation\u2019s role in enabling integration between active duty and reserve forces in support of mission requirements.\u00a0<br \/>\u00a0<br \/><span>\u201cWe are preparing the 60th and the 349th for potential future conflict,\u201d said 1st Lt. Alexandria Valdez, 60th Aerial Port Squadron logistics readiness officer and <\/span>exercise planner. \u201cTo demonstrate our ability to generate, sustain and employ forces, this readiness exercise focused on the installation\u2019s biggest lines of effort. This effort\u202fwas pivotal in syncing each group and our reserve partners in the successful mass movement of our deploying personnel, patients, cargo and supplies.\u201d\u00a0<br \/>\u00a0<br \/><span>Travis AFB is known as \u201cThe Gateway to the Pacific<\/span>,\u201d not only because of its geographical location, but also because the base is known for its innovative approach and unique integration of all four <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amc.af.mil\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span><span>Air Mobility Command<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/strong><span> mission sets. For this exercise, <\/span>more than 160 Airmen went through a simulated deployment while support units were able to rehearse processes for reception, staging, onward movement and integration operations.\u00a0<br \/>\u00a0<br \/><span><\/p>\n<p>    <!--image--><br \/>\n    <!--media-inline--><\/p>\n<p><span>&#8220;The way we&#8217;re preparing is by generating aircraft, people, equipment and supplies<\/span> \u2014 as well as practicing our beddown procedures on the installation, our patient movement and making sure to get after multiple readiness objectives,\u201d Valdez said.\u00a0<br \/>\u00a0<br \/><span>The exercise kicked off with preparations from the 349th Medical Group by building an En Route Patient Staging System<\/span>, or <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.doctrine.af.mil\/Portals\/61\/documents\/AFDP_4-02\/4-02-D04-Health-Enroute.pdf\" target=\"_blank\"><span><span>ERPSS<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/strong><span>,<\/span> that could hold up to 50 patients.\u00a0<br \/>\u00a0<br \/><span>\u201cThe ERPSS is solely an Air Force mission and Travis <\/span>[AFB] is a hub for receiving, caring and distributing service members to either get them home or get them back to the fight,\u201d\u202f\u202fsaid Master Sgt. Audrey Roldan, 349th Aeromedical Staging Squadron aerospace medical technician.\u00a0<br \/>\u00a0<br \/><span>During the exercise, the base tested the current patient movement procedures.\u202fThe simulated patients were staged on a <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.af.mil\/About-Us\/Fact-Sheets\/Display\/Article\/104492\/c-5m-super-galaxy\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span><span>C-5M Super Galaxy<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/strong><span>, cared for by the 60th Aeromedical Evacuation, then moved to one of the three locations for treatment.<\/span>\u00a0<br \/>\u00a0<br \/><span>\u201cAfter seeing the capabilities of the C-5M during this exercise, the airframe is really driving new accomplishments in the AE world,\u201d said Maj. Alex Carter, 22nd Airlift Squadron C-5 pilot and <\/span>exercise troop commander.\u202f<span><\/p>\n<p>    <!--image--><br \/>\n    <!--media-inline--><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<br \/>\u00a0<br \/><span>Additionally, Airmen also posed as transient members. They stayed in a hangar throughout the week were a mix of nearly every job on base.<\/span>\u00a0<br \/>\u00a0<br \/><span>\u201cSeeing over 160 Airmen simulating a rapid deployment to stress the system and test all the agencies on base is a great real-world experience for everyone,\u201d Carter said.<\/span>\u00a0<br \/>\u00a0<br \/><span>To ensure Travis <\/span>AFB operates at the required readiness level, the exercise was evaluated by the Wing Inspection Team, or WIT, and AMC\u2019s Inspector General staff.\u00a0<br \/>\u00a0<br \/><span>\u201cOur WIT are an extension of the 60th AMW IG and are subject matter experts that belong to the various agencies on the installation,\u201d Valdez said. \u201cAt every objective and every big rock of the exercise, we did have WIT on site as oversight and as evaluators for those respective lines of effort.\u201d\u202f<\/span><span><\/p>\n<p>    <!--image--><br \/>\n    <!--media-inline--><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<br \/>\u00a0<br \/><span>For every Air Force Specialty Code on base, involved in the exercise, there were WIT evaluators observing.<\/span>\u00a0<br \/>\u00a0<br \/><span>\u201cIt&#8217;s not about only capturing deficiencies, it&#8217;s also about capturing the things that we&#8217;re doing really well,\u201d Valdez said. \u201cIt&#8217;s both sides, the amazing things our <\/span>Airmen are capable of\u202fand\u202fthe potential functions that we need to fine tune and pay a little more attention to in an effort to seamlessly accomplish our mission.\u201d\u202f\u00a0<br \/>\u00a0<br \/><span>The exercise culminated on the fourth day of execution, <\/span>preparing and strengthening our military for the era of strategic competition requires continuous practice.\u00a0<br \/>\u00a0<br \/><span>\u201cI think it&#8217;s important to practice these things because it&#8217;s something we don&#8217;t do every day, especially as Reservists,\u201d Roldan said. \u201cBig picture, we&#8217;re here to care for patients and our brothers and sisters in arms.
