Schofield Barracks, Hawaii\u2014The U.S. Army Pacific has kicked off its highly anticipated Best Squad Competition 2025 today, July 14. Eight elite squads, representing the pinnacle of readiness and tactical proficiency from across the Indo-Pacific theater, have converged on Schofield Barracks to vie for the coveted title starting this morning with the Army Fitness Test.<\/p>\n

Participating commands include the 8th Theater Sustainment Command, 9th Mission Support Command, Eighth Army, 25th Infantry Division, 11th Airborne Division, 1st Multi-Domain Task Force, 311th Signal Command, and the 94th Air and Missile Defense Command. Each squad, composed of dedicated and highly skilled Soldiers, has earned their place in this rigorous competition through their unwavering commitment to excellence.<\/p>\n

“The Best Squad Competition is more than just a contest; it’s a profound demonstration of the U.S. Army’s commitment to building versatile warfighters and a testament to the unparalleled readiness and lethality of our Soldiers at the small unit level,” said Master Sgt. Dylan Maynard, the operations noncommissioned officer in charge for the U.S. Army Pacific. “These squads embody the core of our Army strength, showcasing tactical excellence, physical and mental toughness, and pure determination and grit in every challenge they face.”<\/p>\n

Throughout the competition, Soldiers will be pushed to their limits, both physically and mentally, through a series of demanding events designed to test their individual and collective abilities. Key events will include but are not limited to a weapons qualification range, zodiac boat relay, 12-mile ruck march, expert soldier testing lanes, stress shoot, and an urban terrain training scenario.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat it means to me as a leader\u2026 is showing [my Soldiers] how far they can really push themselves when they have to,\u201d said Sgt. 1st Class Cody Wise, a Soldier representing the 311th Signal Command.<\/p>\n

This competition reinforces the vital role of the squad as the decisive edge in large-scale combat operations.<\/p>\n
