He emphasized the importance of continuing his family\u2019s tradition of service.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI stand on my family\u2019s shoulders; their legacy inspired me to join,\u201d said Harmon. \u201cI follow in their footsteps and those of all who have served before me. My family\u2019s service history can be traced back eight generations to the Revolutionary War.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Harmon\u2019s decision to work in the medical field was solidified during the COVID-19 pandemic, where he witnessed the tremendous impact of healthcare professionals.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t hold a medical degree, but I wanted to enable and maximize healthcare effectiveness,\u201d he explained. \u201cEvery job I\u2019ve had in the military has been vastly different, but I don\u2019t regret joining. I\u2019ve grown in so many ways, and it\u2019s incredibly rewarding.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"editor-image single\">\n<figure class=\"photo cur-photo\">\n          <span class=\"centered-image\"><br \/>\n            <span class=\"img-container\"><br \/>\n              <a class=\"rich-text-img-link\" href=\"https:\/\/api.army.mil\/e2\/c\/images\/2025\/07\/17\/226e96f0\/original.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><br \/>\n                <img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Lt. Christopher Harmon\u2019s rank after his commissioning ceremony.<br \/>\n                <span class=\"caption-author\"> (Photo Credit: Michelle Thum)<\/span><br \/>\n              <\/span><br \/>\n              <a href=\"https:\/\/api.army.mil\/e2\/c\/images\/2025\/07\/17\/226e96f0\/original.jpg\" title=\"View original\" target=\"_blank\">VIEW ORIGINAL<\/a><br \/>\n            <\/span><br \/>\n          <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>When faced with challenges, Harmon draws strength from his family\u2019s history.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne cousin served in Iraq and Afghanistan, my great uncle served in the 1st and 3rd Ranger Battalions during World War II in North Africa, Sicily, and Italy, receiving the Silver Star and Purple Heart, my grandfather was stationed in Okinawa during World War II as a First Sergeant, and one uncle was a Psychological Operations Officer with the 8th Special Forces Group in Panama during the 1960s, just to list a few of my family\u2019s service record\u201d he recounted. \u201cThey\u2019ve been all over and faced countless challenges, and that\u2019s what gives me strength in tough moments.
