JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii (AFNS) — \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n

Oahu, known for its culture, <\/span>food and scenic views, is also known for the \u201cDay of Infamy.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Dec. 7, 1941, the island was struck by a surprise attack, crippling U.S. assets.\u00a0Fast forward to 2025, where Airmen still <\/span>operate in the same buildings that were struck on that day. Surrounded by scars from the past, Team Hickam understands the importance of readiness, capitalizing on the 15th Wing\u2019s mission to project and sustain airpower throughout the Indo-Pacific.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Hickam\u2019s leadership <\/span>showcased these capabilities and priorities to Secretary of the Air Force Troy Meink<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/strong> during a base visit on July 25.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cJoint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam serves as a strategic <\/span>steppingstone,\u201d Meink said. \u201cThe installation is prepared to rapidly disperse service members, equipment and aircraft across the region to defend our interests and allies and partners in the Pacific.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

As the first stop during an Indo-Pacific tour, <\/span>Meink was familiarized with Hickam\u2019s ability to support transient aircraft and troops, rapidly deploy Airmen within a short timeframe and project airpower during both exercises and real-world operations.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

During the visit, multiple components of Team Hickam <\/span>showcased their support of the Air Force\u2019s Department-Level Exercise series<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/strong>, a combination of multiple command exercises with one overall threat deterrence scenario.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cWe are in the heart of exercise season at the 15th Wing,\u201d said <\/span>Col. Garrett Fisher<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/strong>, 15th Wing commander. \u201cThese exercises are key to deterring our adversaries and assuring our allies and partners that we take defense of the Pacific seriously.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The <\/span>15th Wing<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/strong> and<\/span> 154th Wing, Hawaii Air National Guard<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/strong>, <\/span>utilized six C-17 Globemaster IIIs<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/strong> alongside international partners during <\/span>exercise Talisman Sabre 2025, delivering over 300 paratroopers and seven heavy equipment platforms to Australia. As the exercise continues, interoperability in many areas showcases the key relationship the U.S. has with partner nations.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Additionally, the installation supports <\/span>Air Mobility Command\u2019s<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/strong> Mobility Guardian<\/span> and Bamboo Eagle, and the U.S. Space Force\u2019s Exercise Resolute Space.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Hickam not only supplied <\/span>aircraft throughout the Pacific, but also provided reception, staging, onward movement and integration for an estimated 60 transient aircraft and 11,000 personnel during the beginning phases of the multinational exercise, Resolute Force Pacific<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/strong>, or REFORPAC 25.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cThe work we do here could not be <\/span>accomplished without our mission partners and the dedication and skills of our Airmen,\u201d Fisher said. \u201cThe cumulative efforts of all of our team members enable this installation\u2019s unique and critical mission.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The 15th Wing <\/span>showcased their position as the Pacific\u2019s premier projection platform during the SECAF\u2019s visit, demonstrating the agile, combat and readiness directives necessary for the success of all exercises within the Indo-Pacific.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
