FORT HOOD, Texas –<\/strong> Installation and the Central Texas Emergency Management Working Group members were presented the U.S. Army 2022 Community Partnership Award here March 16 and 23.<\/p>\n

The award highlights the partnership between Bell County, Coryell County, the city of Killeen, the city of Copperas Cove, the Killeen School District, the American Red Cross and the United Services Organization for emergency management preparedness.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll of these folks come together in a time of crisis to support our Soldiers, our families and other first responders who might be here on the installation dealing with whatever the issue of the day was,\u201d expressed Col. Chad R. Foster, U.S. Army Garrison – Fort Hood commander, during the presentation March 16.<\/p>\n

This partnership improves training capabilities by bringing together emergency management subject matter experts from Fort Hood and the Central Texas community. The group is also instrumental for Fort Hood to provide targeted preparedness information to Soldiers, families, civilians and contractors.<\/p>\n

This partnership also improves the ability to anticipate resource requirements and incident impacts during real-world emergency response.<\/p>\n

\u201cNothing of any consequence is able to occur without a few things; Soldiers, well supported military families and a supportive community. Without those three things, absolutely nothing else can happen. \u2026 We have known a long time here at this installation exactly how important the Central Texas community and our on-installation partners are in making a lot of these important things happen,\u201d Foster shared.<\/p>\n

Fort Hood received three total partnership awards in 2022, including partnership with the city of Killeen Fire Department and partnership with Robert Gray Army Airfield and Killeen-Fort Hood Regional Airport. Fort Hood was the only Army installation to receive more than one award.<\/p>\n

The award was presented on behalf of the Department of the Army by Foster to representatives from each organization, including Judge Roger Miller, Coryell County; Debbie Nash King, mayor of the city of Killeen; Dan Yancey, mayor of the city of Copperas Cove; Charles Kelly, director for investigations and school safety with Killeen Independent School District; Jennifer Young, executive director serving the Heart of Texas for the American Red Cross; and Heather Cross, executive director USO San Antonio and Fort Hood.<\/p>\n

Each representative expressed their excitement and honor from receiving the award.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn behalf of the USO, we\u2019re completely honored to be recognized today,\u201d stated Cross. \u201cWe do serve in many, many facets. And we are so happy and proud to do that for all service members here at the garrison and beyond. And that includes, you know, in times of emergency, and so, we\u2019re proud to be able to set up, help out and do our part for the cause.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe just want to say that we are so proud to support Fort Hood and to be able to serve the military members, their families and veterans,\u201d Young said.<\/p>\n

The Army Community Partnership Awards Program seeks to highlight examples of exceptional cooperation and diligence that will encourage continued collaboration to achieve the full potential of community partnerships.<\/p>\n

U.S. Army Community Partnership Awardees were evaluated using the following criteria:<\/p>\n

\u00b7 improves Soldier\/family quality of life<\/p>\n

\u00b7 improves or enhances readiness<\/p>\n

\u00b7 modernizes a service, system or process<\/p>\n

\u00b7 provides cost or other efficiencies<\/p>\n

\u00b7 expands capability<\/p>\n

\u00b7 improves community relations<\/p>\n
