WIESBADEN, Germany – Community members living and working at the Mainz-Kastel Storage Station will soon have a new breakfast and lunch option.<\/p>\n

While currently operating a food truck outside the former location of the District Breakfast and Lunch, a new Wiesbaden Family and MWR contractor has been busy renovating Building 4019 in preparation for the opening of Cristobal in late December.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur goal was to not leave the Soldiers without any food or drinks during the renovations,\u201d said Cristobal Manager Khaled Ezzedine. \u201cWe\u2019re currently providing that service with our food truck while renovating the building. We\u2019re offering different hot and cold sandwiches, sweet things such as doughnuts and muffins, and different hot and cold beverages.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Cristobal manager said that once the renovations are completed, the Food Truck will be removed.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe hope to have the main caf\u00e9 room open shortly after Christmas featuring the same offerings and more,\u201d he said, adding, \u201cWe\u2019ll use the holidays to finish the whole place.\u201d<\/p>\n

With the theme: \u201cBecause You Serve, You Deserve,\u201d Ezzedine said he intends to make the dining experience a positive one for patrons. \u201cThe Soldier deserves to expect more. I want to show the customers that the moment they set their feet in the doorway \u2013 they are appreciated and will be treated well.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHis pledge to serve the Soldiers is an important point,\u201d said Mark Smith, Wiesbaden Family and MWR Business Operations Division Chief.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe gave him notice and I was impressed with how quickly he could make it happen,\u201d said Smith, adding that Ezzedine brings years of experience to the project.<\/p>\n

The former commercial pilot and restaurant troubleshooter managed several restaurants before opening the Backhaus in Mainz-Kastel. Now he said he is looking forward to the next challenge of serving patrons at the Mainz-Kastel installation.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ll be offering everything from chicken wings and burgers to daily dishes that will change, including seasonal dishes,\u201d said the 53-year-old entrepreneur. A look at the proposed menu includes scrambled eggs, omelettes, various salads, kebab sandwiches, Schnitzels and more.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat\u2019s important for MWR is to offer patrons a rich variety. Khaled is going to bring that with various hot and cold sandwiches and lunch options,\u201d Smith said. \u201cOur goal is to serve Soldiers locally so that they don\u2019t have to go off base to spend too much money and time away from their duty.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Cristobal Food Truck (and eventually the new facility) is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. It is closed weekends, Federal and Training Holidays.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
