But the one airmen recently conducted at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, was big even by elephant walk standards.\n<\/p>\n<p><!--popup--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Trumpeted by the base&#8217;s\u00a082nd Training Wing as &#8220;possibly the largest and most unique &#8216;elephant walk&#8217; in Air Force history,&#8221; <\/strong>the\u00a0event made for quite a photo op on the flight line.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ast-grid  breakout grid-1\">\n<div class=\"items\">\n<div class=\"item col-md-4 dgov-col-md-4\">\n<div class=\"body\">\n<p>It comprised\u00a0<strong>80 aircraft<\/strong> \u2014 40 T-38 Talons and 40 T-6A Texans assigned to\u00a0the 80th Flying Training Wing.\n            <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div class=\"ast-grid  breakout grid-2\">\n<div class=\"items\">\n<div class=\"item col-md-4 dgov-col-md-4\">\n<div class=\"body\">\n<p><strong>Four thousand airmen<\/strong> participated as well \u2014 students assigned to the 82nd Training Wing.\n            <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The mammoth event wasn&#8217;t just going for clicks and likes though. As\u00a0home to three of the Air Force&#8217;s eight technical training groups, its largest noncommissioned officer academy and the Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training Program, Sheppard plays a pivotal role in training for the Air Force, as well as for partner nations.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The key to air power is exceptional airmen, and the key to exceptional airmen is exceptional training,&#8221;\u00a0Brig. Gen. Lyle K.
