{"id":99177,"date":"2024-01-24T23:10:00","date_gmt":"2024-01-25T00:10:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/adn.monetizemail.com\/?p=99177"},"modified":"2024-01-25T14:17:03","modified_gmt":"2024-01-25T14:17:03","slug":"uss-mccampbell-to-forward-deploy-to-japan-replace-uss-antietam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/adn.monetizemail.com\/?p=99177","title":{"rendered":"USS McCampbell to forward deploy to Japan, replace USS Antietam"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><\/div>\n<p><i>From U.S. Naval Forces Japan and Naval Surface Force Public Affairs<\/i><br \/>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>McCampbell\u00a0will replace USS Antietam\u00a0(CG 54), which will\u00a0depart Yokosuka, Japan,\u00a0and move to\u00a0Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, as part of a scheduled rotation of forces in the Pacific.\u00a0Upon arrival in Yokosuka,\u00a0McCampbell\u00a0will\u00a0join\u00a0Commander, Task Force 71\/Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 15, the Navy\u2019s largest DESRON and the U.S. 7th Fleet\u2019s principal surface force.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0forward presence\u00a0of\u00a0McCampbell\u00a0enhances the national security of the United States and improves its ability to protect strategic interests.\u00a0It\u00a0will directly support the Defense Strategic Guidance to posture the most capable units forward in the Indo-Pacific Region.<\/p>\n<p>The United States values Japan\u2019s contributions to the peace, security and stability of the\u00a0Indo-Pacific\u00a0and its long-term commitment and hospitality in hosting U.S. forces forward deployed\u00a0there. These forces, along with their counterparts in the Japan Self-Defense Forces, make up the core capabilities needed by the alliance to meet our common strategic objectives.<\/p>\n<p>The security environment in the\u00a0Indo-Pacific\u00a0requires that the U.S. Navy station the most capable ships forward.
