Updated flooding information below

Local authorities issued a special weather statement for heavy rain. The expected potential for rainfall is between 2-6 inches within the next 48 hours and continued rainfall throughout the week. Please be cautious on roadways and anticipate increased travel times. We will track closely and update you with any new weather info. Stay safe out there.

14:45 Update Due to the ongoing inclement weather, U.S. Army Garrison Italy is closing all its non-essential services today at 1500 (3 p.m.) This includes most on-post services and activities, to include FMWR location such as the Arena. Community members should not come to post (Ederle, Del Din) for activities today. DODEA afterschool activities have been cancelled. Commissary will close at 1600 (4 p.m.).

13:30 Update *Our garrison operations center is activated and we are linked in with local Italian operations in Vicenza. Our host nation liaison, reports that the following communities bordering the Retrone River may be impacted; possible basement flooding.
o Sovizzo
o Creazzo
o Altavillia
Also, these Areas
o S. Agostino
o Viale Fusinato
o Ferrovieri

12:20 Update * Vicenza officials are concerned about the level of Retrone river.

  • Local police are informing citizens of Viale Fusinato with megaphones, indicating to move cars and other goods from areas at risk of flooding, particularly along the bank wall.
  • City parks and some schools are now closed.
  • Floods are occurring in particular on Bertesina street, near Caserma Ederle, toward roundabout with Via Aldo Moro.

11:20 Update * Expect some road closures. Also, move vehicles from underground parking or parking areas prone to flooding. Monitor basement areas.

Camp Darby is also experiencing heavy rain and has an Orange alert until midnight Tuesday.

CAMP DARBY – An orange alert has been issued by Tuscany’s civil protection operations room for hydrogeological risk. ORANGE ALERT for heavy rains: very intense, dangerous phenomena are expected, with widespread damage of property.
