WIESBADEN, Germany — It took a lot of creativity and vision to turn an extremely small training space into a comfortable employee break/training room at the Building 1501 Child Development Center on Clay Kaserne.

“Our building has not had a proper break room for the staff since it was built,” said the center’s director Anesia Iszard. “We’ve been trying to figure out how to make a nice place for the staff, without having to build on externally.

“We took out the shelving and basically gave the room a facelift to make it more relaxing for the staff,” she said, explaining that the addition of a couple of massage chairs, a snack station, refrigerator and microwave are aimed at providing a comfortable space for staff members.

“And we still have a computer in the break room for the staff to complete their required online training,” Iszard added, thanking members of the garrison’s Directorate of Public Works for their assistance in removing shelving and painting the new break room.

“I think it’s important for the staff to have a space for respite during their break period,” said Wiesbaden Child and Youth Services Coordinator Jerel Burton. “The more that we can provide for them, the better they can do the mission of taking care of our military children.

“I can’t say enough about how important our director and staff are to the overall mission,” Burton said, adding, “Anything we can do to make things easier and more comfortable in their workspace is paramount.”

Burton and fellow CYS staff joined the CDC director for a ribbon-cutting event on Feb. 23 to officially open the new Break/Training Room.
