A group of Marines got up close and personal — maybe for some a little too personal — with snakes, spiders and scorpions during a jungle survival class as part of Exercise Cobra Gold in Thailand.
Marines assigned to Battalion Landing Team 2/4, 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit joined their Thai counterparts for a jungle survival class in which they learned the necessary skills to survive in harsh, austere environments.
The class was part of Cobra Gold — an annual U.S.-Thai co-sponsored exercise that builds on the longstanding friendship between the two nations and brings together a robust multinational force to promote regional peace and security in support of a free and open Indo-Pacific.
Cobra Gold is now in its 42nd year. This year’s exercise involved more than 7,000 service members from seven nations including the U.S., Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Japan, Malaysia and South Korea.
